Decadent Blood Orange Chocolate Cake

We absolutely LOVE to use Blood Orange Olive Oil for baking, but this cake is also amazing with our Tea Rose Olive Oil :)


  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/3 cup baking cocoa
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups water
  • ¾ cup blood orange olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar


In a large bowl, combine sifted flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Create a well in the dry mixture. 

To the well, add water, blood orange olive oil, vanilla and vinegar. Mix until fully combined (batter will be thin). Don’t let batter sit to long before going into the oven, as the vinegar-baking soda reaction is important for baking.

Pour batter into a greased 13x9” baking pan and bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes. Cool completely before frosting and serving. Makes 12-15 servings
